Most traditional business software revolves around transactions ? the movements recorded in purchase orders, stock movements, bills of materials, invoices, journals and every other document that has evolved to record business operations over the past several centuries. But this is a roundabout way of representing reality that has evolved through historical happenstance. Modern computing can track real objects and the events that happen to them as they move from make to ship, or from order to pay. As fellow Enterpr...

Its heartening to see that Mark Zuckerberg is following my advice and seeking a sit-down with Google to hammer out their differences over this Friend Connect thing.
Last week, Facebook unceremoniously blocked Friend Connect from accessing its data stream. Whether Facebook was on board or aware of Googles (Nasdaq: GOOG) plan beforehand depends on whom you ask.
It would be heartening as well to see Facebook coming to the defense of my private data as forcefully as it has been -- if only it actually were about my private data.
Zuckerberg, in Tokyo to launch a Japanese-language version of the social net, said hed like to "talk to Google about this and see if theres a way we can make it work," according to PC World.

Nintendos Wii Fit came to the U.S. on Monday. Wii Fit is a game and accompanying controller for the popular Wii video game system that enables the user to play games focused on exercise and use their feet to control it.
The new offering is an extension of what has made the Wii so popular among mainstream gamers -- getting folks up and moving.
"Its going to be extremely popular. One of the by-products of the first wave of Wii games was that people discovered that they were getting off the couch and moving around. Taking it to the next level with something really targeted at physical activity is a good thing," said Michael Gartenberg, a JupiterResearch analyst.
First introduced in Japan last December, a Wii Fit bundled system sold more than 1.4 million units by the middle of April, a...

PALO ALTO, Calif.--Facebook executive Chamath Palihapitiya said Wednesday that the social network wants to work with anyone, including Google, as long as the company respects privacy.
Palihapitiya called a recent tussle with Google over the search giants new social-networking application Friend Connect a "tempest in a teapot."
"Google built an application that violated our terms of service so we asked them, like we do with all applications that violate our terms of service, to remediate," Palihapitya, vice president of product marketing, said here Wednesday in an interview after a press event.
"We temporarily blocked them until its fixed. Were waiting for the application to conform to our terms of service," he added.
Palihapitiyas comments come days after Facebook Chief Mark Zucker...

Apple, CBS sued over Mighty Mouse
http://www.9to5mac.com/ mighty_mouse_trademark
Apple and CBS are being sued for trademark infringement by a competing interface manufacturer. The case against Apple and CBS was filed by a firm called Man and Machine. It alleges Apple began selling its Mighty Mouse over one year after Man and Machine began selling waterproof and chemical resistant mice under the same name to labs and hospitals in 2004. The company claims its earlier use trumps Apples. Apple licensed use of the Mighty Mouse brand from CBS, the network which owns the animated television show featuring a superhero mouse of the same name.

It was simply inevitable: someone was going to lay the iPhone and BlackBerry Bold down beside one another, and if John Mayer wont stop sending himself emails long enough to do it, CrackBerrys sister site will. Theres really nothing here that you couldnt put together yourself from checking out galleries and videos of each device separately, but feel free to humor your sick mind by glancing over the comparative images in the read link below or examining the vid waiting after the jump....

The Denon 2809CI
Denon has announced several new AV receivers for 2008, ranging from $1,200 down to $300. While last years line of AV receivers marked a huge break from previous generations--with a colorful graphical user interfaces and curvy exterior design--the 2008 line looks to mostly continue the innovations from last year. The initial announcement lacked most of the important specifics wed like to know about these receivers, but we have a broad idea of what they will offer.
All receivers will feature Audyssey Dynamic Volume, which is a sound processing mode that aims to keep volume at a stable level while you watch, so commercials dont sound louder than shows and explosions in movies wont startle you. We havent tested Audyssey Dynamic Volume ourselves, but we could see it b...

Though Whirlpool managed to pick up a few new partners to make gizmos that played nice with its life-simplifying centralpark connection system back in January, there still arent many options out there to make good use of it. Thankfully, the outfit has just lassoed in Mobility Electronics, which is all set to reveal its iGo charging station for centralpark refrigerators; the unit will enable users to juice up cellphones, DAPs, laptops and pretty much any other rechargeable gadget out there from the comfort of their own kitchen. The forthcoming device will obviously be compatible with every last iGo tip, theoretically allowing you to
recharge "over 2,700 different gadgets with the simple switch of a tip." No word on pricing / availability, however.

While AMD is touting next-generation memory for its upcoming graphics products, Nvidia is being more circumspect.
AMD announced Tuesday that it will adopt the first commercial implementation of Graphics Double Data Rate, version 5 (GDDR5) memory in its forthcoming next generation of ATI Radeon graphics board products. (See: AMD: Were first with GDDR5 memory)
The new AMD boards will be based on AMD HD 4850 and 4870 graphics chips, as widely reported.
"The higher data rates supported by GDDR5--up to 5x that of GDDR3 and 4x that of GDDR4--enable more bandwidth over a narrower memory interface, which can translate into superior performance delivered from smaller, more cost-effective chips," AMD said in a statement.
Nvidia is supporting the technology but taking a more cautious approach...
