This is outstanding news for all, as I think there has been a lot of concern over the quick rise of mobile devices and the new security concerns that they create. The capabilities of this debugger will allow researchers to work with discovered issues to determine if they are exploitable or not. Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) announced Monday the rollout of the latest firmware update for its PlayStation Portable (PSP) handheld gaming console. The system software update version 4.00 brings Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) search to the XrossMediaBar (XMB) interface, the result of a new partnership between the hardware heavyweight and the king of online search. Theres no stopping this guy, and now hes built himself an Atari 7800 portable just to make sure the kiddie hackers know whos the Heckendornest. Ben Heck built the 7800 portable with a 7-inch widescreen to accomodate that larger motherboard on the 7800 (compared to the 2600). Apparently large, complex motherboards just dont phase him anymore. Chinas State Intellectual Property Office denied reports on Thursday that Microsoft and other software behemoths were under investigation, according to an Associated Press report. The antitrust agencys statement was a response to a Wednesday report by the Shanghai Securities News saying the Intellectual Property Office was investigating allegations that large software companies were using their market position to gain favorable pricing, as well as curtail research and development by local Chinese companies. The Chinese news agency also reported that some local companies were contemplating filing antitrust lawsuits, based on a new law that is set to take effect August 1. Oh no, Dell isnt forgetting to do its duty to Microsoft. Just as promised, it has now bumped up the prices for folks wanting to stick with Windows XP Professional. As of now, the only way to get XP pre-installed is by selecting an option that also throws Vista in the box, and if youre specifically after Windows XP Home Edition or Windows XP MCE, youre thoroughly out of luck. On eligible machines, it looks as if getting XP Pro along with Vista Business will cost you $99 more than Vista Home alone, while having Vista Ultimate ride shotgun adds another $50.
