Samsung intros L720, L830 and L83T digital cameras

Samsung UK has just announced three new digital cameras which the company will be adding to its already crowded lineup, the L730 (pictured, ?119), L830 (?149) and the L83T (?179). All three compact models appear to feature many, if not all of the same specs, save for slight variations in megapixel numbers (7, 8, and 8.2, respectively). The cameras sport a 2.5-inch LCD screen, 3X optical zoom, ISO to 1600, movie capture mode in 320x240 to 800x592, 16 MB of internal memory (plus SD support to 4GB), and come bundled with the companys Digimax Master software. The L83T adds ASR image stabilization, but other than that, these cameras are practically identical. Samsung clearly felt that the market for small, silver digital cameras was lacking a certain blandness only it could provide.

Usually the computer casing that we use is made by metal and looks complicated with all the 3.5 and 5.25 bays in it. So, what if simplicity is your lifestyle, and you dont like casing design like alienware? Probably you will need something like this :- This computer casing was made by hand using oak hardwood and 1/4 amber-tinted plexiglass. The casing comes with a set of computer specifications. There is only 1 unit available, which means it is unique and you wont see anyone else using the same casing as you are! The uniqueness somehow raises the selling price, which is USD$2000 plus a shipping fee of USD$35 (only will ship within the US). The Computer specifications are as follows :- AMD Athlon64 3000+ processor Radeon X200 onboard video 512MB RAM 80GB SATA hard drive USB 2...

Olympus developing completely wireless head-mounted displays

Nilay Patel   Year:by , posted Jul 12th 2007 at 7:39PM   Source Site:engadget

Olympus is planning on taking head-mounted displays out of the "giant nerd" category and into the "scary dystopian future" realm with a new project to develop a completely wireless system that can also double as eyeglasses. While most other HMDs weve seen feature a cable snaking across your body to an external power pack, Olympus has expanded on its previous efforts (pictured) and is already prototyping a 3-ounce unit with an internal power source powering two side-mounted 110,000-pixel displays that project email onto the lenses. Olympus is optimistically hoping to bring the tech to market in 2012 -- looks like wannabe Terminators are going to be lugging those battery packs around for a while yet....

PS3 to get another price cut by years end?

Donald Melanson   Year:by , posted Jul 12th 2007 at 7:39PM   Source Site:engadget

It looks like we could soon be in for a good old fashioned price war, with talk of yet another PS3 price cut already spreading just days after the last one became official. Whats more, this latest rumor appears to be based on more than just idle speculation, coming instead from Capcoms Capcom Chief Financial Officer Kazuhiko Abe, who told Reuters that the price "is likely to be cut again towards the end of the year," adding that he expects the PS3s installed base to "grow gradually." While theres no indication of just how big a price cut itd be, any further drop would certainly put a crimp in Microsofts rumored plans for a significant price cut of its own, though we doubt too many other people will be complaining....

Intel Pentium-M vs AMD Turion64

Latest Hi Tech News   Year:This post has been viewed times since Saturday 3 September 2005 @ 12:56 pm   Source Site:sapiensbryan

I have just come across a very well written article comparing mobile processors, both Intel Pentium-M (Dothan) and AMD Turion64. I know, there are tons of articles comparing the two, but I found this selected review is comparing as scientifically fair as possible. In other words, the review picked laptops with the specifications as close as possible and running benchmarks more than once to produce reliable results, not like some other reviews comparing totally different laptop setups (like this one). Of course, there are limitations of the review (which doesnt?), such as running most of the benchmarking off the AC plug. This is because running off AC plug and off the battery would possibly results in difference on performance of the laptop. Furthermore, you will definitely be surpris...

Derrick Hixson, a Mac Mini user who submitted an impressive Mac Mini modification, using a toy Millennium Falcon as show in the picture below. He (and his buddies) disassembled some of the plastic pieces inside the toy, in order to fit the mac mini into the toy. They even added a USB extension port in front of the toy. Furthermore, a state-of-the-art video camera from Apple, Apple iSight was installed into the top hatch of the Millennium Falcon !! After installing, they were able to run updates and file transfer using bluetooth wireless keyboard and mouse with an Airport Extreme wireless card. Cool huh? Have a look of the modification process. ...

Apple patents method for iPhones and iPods to chat wirelessly

Paul Miller   Year:by , posted Jul 12th 2007 at 7:39PM   Source Site:engadget

Not really sure how much mileage Apple is going to get out of this patent, with Zune and pretty much everybody else already swapping songs and such wirelessly, but well humor em all the same. A September 1st, 2006 filing describes methods "for delivery of data to a portable electronic device from another electronic device." For sake of argument, well assume theyre talking iPhones and iPods here. Applications are pretty broad, ranging from various protected and unprotected media files, to news subscriptions and shopping lists, and syncing can be done automatically and manually. In a definite step above the level of sharing offered by the Zune, subscription files can be shared in an unlimited manner with other subscription users -- though of course that would all be contingent on Apple...

Fujitsu-Siemens Scaleo Home Server to arrive at IFA

Nilay Patel   Year:by , posted Jul 12th 2007 at 7:39PM   Source Site:engadget

Word on the street is that Fujitsu-Siemens is going to introduce its first entry into the not-so-crowded Windows Home Server market under the Scaleo brand at this years IFA conference in late August. The Scaleo Home Server will feature headless operation under Vista Home Server, a two disk 500GB SATA RAID array, gigabit Ethernet, and Energy Star 4.0-compliant energy usage of just 50W. Price estimates are ranging from ?500 ($690) to ?700 ($965), and availability is hazily pegged at "by the end of the year" -- projections that match the awesome blurriness of this render.
