I took this picture while running madly through Frankfurt airport to meet a connecting flight on the way to Sapphire. It’s kind of cool, even though I took it with my low-quality, cell phone camera.
Michael Krigsman is CEO of Asuret, Inc., a software and consulting company dedicated to reducing software implementation failures. See his full profile and disclosure of his industry affiliations.

Can we expect to see DRM-free movies any time soon?

If DRM-free musicturns out to bea success (that is, people buy it and dont rampantly share it with others) then can we expect DRM-free movies to follow?
My ZDNet blogging colleague John Carroll thinks that this could happen:
This is why the experiment with unprotected digital music sales is so critical. If users opt to purchase legal digital music, and if such files don’t end up heavily “traded” on pirate networks, then I expect that movie studios will eventually opt to ship unprotected digital movies.
Can we expect DRM-free movies any time so...

I’ve written numerous times about how packaged (or productized) services and can improve alignment between the interests of consultants and their clients. The New York Times reports that the packaged approach is now being tested by a hospital group in Pennsylvania. From the article:
The group, Geisinger Health System, has overhauled its approach to surgery. And taking a cue from the makers of television sets, washing machines and consumer products, Geisinger essentially guarantees its workmanship, charging a flat fee that includes 90 days of follow-up treatment.
Even if a patient suffers c...

Is Google Enterprise Search a joke? I noted yesterday, given Google was the butt of jokes at the Enterprise Search Summit in New York City earlier this week. Kevin Gough, Senior Product Marketing Manager for Google Enterprise, made a case at the Summit for why Google to big business: Google love belongs in the Enterprise!
Gough’s counterpart at Microsoft, however, believes Enterprise customers want an integrated business productivity platform, such as Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS), not a consumer turned bu...

According to FCC documents obtained by AppleInsider Apple achieved a critical milestone by gaining approval from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to sell iPhone in the United States.
The information was leaked in a SAR Test Report which measures Specific Absorption Rates (SAR) of near-field radiated energy to verify compliance with federal exposure limits. In the report from 6 February, 2007 FCC Test Lab Manager Lothar Schmidt spilled iPhones model number (A1203) and FCC ID (BCGA1203.)
The Apple Inc. A1203 GSM Cellular Telephone with Bluetooth and Wifi, FCC ID: BCGA1203, is in compliance with the limits...

During Googles Searchology event yesterday, Marissa Mayer told us the new universal search update will show you richer results from all video sharing websites something that Im sure people will find interesting. Today, the blogosphere began noticing this update through Google Video as they found results from MetaCafe mixed in with Google Video and YouTube.
There was a question during the conference about how broadly videos will be searchable going forward. Marissas answer was basically if we can crawl it, you will be able to search it. Does that mean results will simply be shown as a text link? Not...

As mentioned in my post titled, Virtualization and Green Computing, green computing the industry catch phrase for finding ways to make the most efficient use of computing resources. In this post, Id like to look at storage virtualization and the role it plays in green computing.
Storage virtualization, by the way, is using hardware and software to break the link betwen an application, application component, system service or whole stack of software and the storage subsystem. This allows the storage to be located just about anywhere, on just about any t...

Skype intends to pursue the multi-player games market by creating a Skype Game Channel fueled by innovations from techs it hopes will participate in its also new Game Developer Program.
People are increasingly using Skype to interact with one another, with many choosing to play simple games like checkers or backgammon, Skype developer program director Paul Amery (at top) said at the TMCnet Communications Developer Conference yesterday. However, the tremendous size of Skypes user base makes it an ideal environment for multi-player and community-based games in which people can play against or col...
